Boy, 14, Dead After Brooklyn Hit-And-Run

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A 14-year-old boy died late Thursday, after being struck in a hit-and-run accident in Brooklyn.

The accident happened at 5:05 p.m. at East 7th Street and Caton Avenue in Brooklyn, on the cusp of Kensington and Windsor Terrance, the FDNY EMS told 1010 WINS. Earlier reports that the victim was a girl turned out to be incorrect.

Police said a Chevrolet Impala was headed west on Caton Avenue and its driver made a left turn onto East 7th Street, where it struck the boy as he crossed the street.

The boy -- identified as Mohammad Uddin -- was taken to Maimonides Medical Center, and was in cardiac arrest at the time, EMS said.

He was later pronounced dead at the hospital, authorities said.
