Yankees COO Excited For Boomer & Carton's True Blue Charity Softball Game
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Bombers grounds crew is busy getting Yankee Stadium ready for Boomer & Carton's "True Blue" celebrity-studded charity softball game.
Wednesday night's event will raise money for the families of fallen police officers.
"It really is an honor, it is exciting," Yankees COO Lonn Trost said.
Pros and politicians will step up to the plate, including Bernie Williams, Willie Randolph, Tom Coughlin, Sarah Hughes, Chris Mullin, Gov. Chris Christie and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
1010 WINS' Juliet Papa and John Montone will also be on hand.
Boomer & Carton wanted to step away from the mic and up to the plate for the cause, but Trost isn't making it easy.
"We're going to require them to run 90 feet, not the typical softball distance between the bases," he said.
So far, 15,000 tickets have been sold.

Twenty-percent of the proceeds will benefit the Silver Shield Foundation, another 25 percent will go to the NYC PBA Widows' and Children's Fund, and 50 percent will go to the families of slain NYPD officers Brian Moore, Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu.
