Boomer & Carton: The Jets Are Better Off Sans Geno

The "National Treasures" that are Boomer Esiason & Craig Carton pulled no punches (pun fully intended) when discussing the plight of Geno Smith, after the Jets' third-year quarterback had his jaw broken in the locker room by now-former teammate IK Enemkpali over an apparent $600 debt.

According to Boomer, all you need to know about Geno's leadership lies in the fact that he was punched in the face by a teammate over $600. Craig is under the belief that Enemkpali did the Jets a favor by removing Smith from the equation for the time being.  And round and round we go.

As for the baseball, the Mets won 4-0 behind eight strong innings from Matt Harvey.  The win, combined with a Nats loss, gives the Mets a 2.5 game lead in the NL East.  As for the Yankees, it took them 16 innings to be declared a loser, as they fell to the Indians 5-4 in Cleveland. They now hold just a slim 1/2-game lead over the red-hot Blue Jays in the AL East.
