Boomer & Carton Set To Lead FDNY, NYPD In All-Star Heroes Game

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- On Sunday, New York City police officers and New York City firefighters will square off in a basketball game at Barclays Center.

The NYPD-FDNY matchup will raise money for the New York City Police Foundation and the FDNY Foundation.

If you buy a ticket to the NBA D-League All-Star Game, which will start at 2:30 p.m., you'll have access to the NYPD-FDNY hoops game, which tips off at 12:30 p.m.

WFAN host Boomer Esiason will coach the FDNY squad. Co-host Craig Carton will coach the NYPD team. The NBA will donate $35,000 to the aforementioned foundations.

Former NBA players Muggsy Bogues, Felipe López, John Wallace and A. C. Green, along with WNBA stars Kalana Greene and Ruth Riley -- who recently retired -- will play in the game. The honorary coach for Boomer's team is former Net Jason Collins.

Craig's honorary coach is WNBA legend Teresa Weatherspoon.

"Listen, I've never met her, I know who she is," Carton said of Weatherspoon. "She's a wonderful basketball player, one of the best WNBA players of all time. I just hope she understands (it's) coach Carton (and she's the) honorary coach. You want to do the coin toss? Do the coin toss. I'm in charge of the team."

Boomer & Craig are supposed to wear basketball uniforms during the game, which doesn't sit will with the Booms.

"I'm not wearing a basketball uniform," Boomer said. "I was showing up in a suit and tie. I'm a coach, I show up in a suit and tie. I'm not playing, dude ... I'm not coaching in a basketball jersey!"
