Boomer & Carton: Mets Eventually Win Despite Futility, Yanks Getting Attention

The Mets and Cardinals played 18 innings of baseball Sunday in St. Louis, and it was the Mets who eventually prevailed by a score of 3-1 after nearly six hours.

Despite the win, Mets fans were left with a bad taste in their mouths based on their team's inability to hit with runners in scoring position, going just 1-for-26.  Craig described the game as "disgusting."  With the win, the Mets still trail the first place Nationals by two games in the NL East, so it was there that Boomer and Craig got things started this Monday morning.

The Yankees also won a low-scoring affair, topping the Mariners 2-1 in the Bronx thanks in large part to a late-inning long ball off the bat of Mark Teixeira.  CC Sabathia looked pretty good and the Bombers currently hold a four-game lead over Buck Showlater and the Orioles in the AL East. And because of that fans are packing the Stadium to see them play.
