Jerry Recco also made it back from his time off relatively unscathed, and he found himself in the Allstate Studio saddled with the duty of delivering an informative and entertaining update.

Before Jerry could get started, though, Craig had some fun mocking sports talk radio and poor Jerry himself.  The thick-skinned update maven shook off the slight and forged forward, beginning with the Mets, who finished off their first half by winning seven of their last nine, including Sunday's 5-3 victory over the Diamondbacks that was highlighted by Kirk Nieuwenhuis' three -- count 'em, THREE -- home runs.  Afterward, Mets skipper Terry Collins talked about Captain Kirk's performance and addressed David Wright, who has been taking part in baseball-related activities ... whatever that means.

The Yankees downed the Red Sox 8-6 and enter the break winners of four of their last five.  Rob Refsnyder made his MLB debut a memorable one for himself and Bombers fans alike, as he collected his first hits, the second leaving the yard in the ninth for a two-run round-tripper, which John Sterling made a little more special with his radio call right here on the FAN.

Plus, the Pittsburgh Pirates are winning in dramatic fashion, Craig imagines how select personalities might handle an exclusive interview with Jason Pierre-Paul and some news from the NBA as Andrea Bargnani signs with the Nets...
