Police: 4 Boaters In Inflatable Raft Rescued From Long Island Sound

WADING RIVER, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Four boaters were rescued by Suffolk County authorities after getting stuck on the water off the Long Island Sound.

According to police, Leydis Bayero, 26, Milton Martinez, 28, Edwin Martinez, 23, and Nesdor Martinez, 26, of Brentwood, went out for a fishing trip in their Intext Excursion inflatable row boat off the shores near Shoreham Saturday night when they were taken out to sea and could not make it back to shore.

Authorities were called to the scene at around 9 p.m. to help search for the boaters after a friend lost sight of them at the shore.

Authorities used radar to locate the craft, and transported the boaters back to shore on board the Marine Delta near Port Jefferson.

There were no reported injuries.
