2 Passengers Unharmed After 26-Foot Boat Catches Fire In Copaigue

COPAIGUE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Coast Guard officials and local emergency responders were on the scene after a 26-foot long pleasure craft caught fire on Long Island Saturday morning.

Two people were on the boat when the blaze broke out at around 10:29 a.m. near Great Neck Creek in Copaigue, the Coast Guard said.

The Copaigue Fire Department, Suffolk County Marine Juliet and a Coast Guard Auxiliary vessel responded to the scene.

Once on scene, Coast Guard officials were able to grab the boat's anchor line and pull the boat away from other vessels and nearby homes, the Coast Guard said.

Responders from the Copaigue Fire Department were able to contain the blaze, officials said.

The two people on the boat were unharmed, officials said.
