JERSEY CITY, N.J. (CBSNewYork) – Young men in Jersey City got a motivating message Saturday.

The Black Men Can Institute hosted workshops for boys in grades 9 through 12 where they learned about topics ranging from financial literacy to how to tie a tie.

Organizers say their goal is to empower and motivate young men.

"Being students with academic, these skills are important, that you can do anything and accomplish anything," Black Men Can Institute Founder Brandon Frame said.

Parents also attended the workshop to learn how to foster and encourage their children at home.
