NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- This year proved to be a stellar year at the box office -- and with award season right around the corner, experts are weighing in on the biggest award contenders.

From the highly-anticipated "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," to the action-packed "Avengers: Age of Ultron" and the family-friendly "Despicable Me," there are plenty of great films that may have a chance at an Oscar this year.
