Police: Retired NYPD Officer Shoots Sons, Kills Self At Bellport Home

BELLPORT, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) --  A retired NYPD officer shot his two adult sons before turning the gun on himself late Sunday night on Long Island, police said.

Irvan Noak, 61, shot and wounded his two sons following an argument at their home in Bellport at around 11:10 p.m., police said. He then shot himself.

Noak was transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

His sons, 30-year-old Irvan Noak III and 22-year-old Aaron Noak, are hospitalized in critical condition.

Noak retired from the force in 2009.

The shooting reportedly occurred after a family party in the backyard, WCBS 880's Mike Xirinachs reported.

Authorities aren't commenting on the argument that triggered the shootings.

Other family members in the home were not injured.

The investigation is ongoing.
