Brooklyn Woman Robbed Of Her Mother's Day Gift

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- What a way to ruin Mother's Day.

As 1010 WINS' Derricke Dennis reported, a Brooklyn mother is missing something special -- her Coach purse, taken from her while walking down the street in Bedford-Stuyvesant on Friday.

She says it was a Mother's Day gift from her children.

The theft happened in the 200 block of Ellery Street. The 65-year-old woman wrestled with the crook and even chased him to try to get it back.

"Very upsetting -- first that she lost a gift, but second that someone took it from her," a neighbor said.

The suspect was last seen fleeing northbound on Broadway toward Lewis Avenue.

Police have released surveillance images of the suspect. He is described as black, about 5 feet 6 inches tall and wearing dark-colored clothing and black shoes.
