Person Shot Dead By Police On I-84 In Beacon, Expressway Shut Down For Hours

BEACON, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Interstate 84 was shut down for four hours after a person was shot and killed by police on the expressway in Beacon.

Around 4:30 p.m., there was a fatal police-involved shooting on I-84 on near exit 11 and the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge, authorities told CBS2. Details about the shooting were not immediately available, but authorities did say the suspect was armed.

Beacon police and New York State Police were both involved in the investigation, authorities said.

Both directions of I-84 were shut down between near Route 9D for about four hours. By 8 p.m., one westbound lane remained blocked, authorities said.
