Bald Eagle Spotted At Central Park Reservoir
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A bald eagle has been spotted at the Central Park reservoir.
People took to social media, sharing pictures and video of the bird soaring over the park.
A bald eagle landed in @CentralParkNYC yesterday! ???? Though bald eagles spend their winters in forested areas near our waterways, spotting one spending time on the ice in Central Park is pretty rare. https://t.co/dPey5sEBmW

Officials say they are starting to see more eagles in the area this time of year.
"In the wintertime, bald eagles do come down the Hudson River to hunt 'cause a lot of the lakes and rivers freeze up north," urban park ranger Rob Mastrianni told CBS2. "Plenty of open water with some frozen patches where they can sit on the ice, too, and eat their meal."
The urban park rangers will be leading an eagle watching walk this Sunday at Inwood Hill Park.
