Isaac Argro arrested in murder of Azsia Johnson, mother shot on Upper East Side

Arrest made in fatal shooting of Azsia Johnson on UES

NEW YORK -- Two days after the deadly shooting of a mother on the Upper East Side, police have made an arrest.

The NYPD said Friday night that 22-year-old Isaac Argro had been arrested in connection to the shooting death of Azsia Johnson. The 20-year-old was shot while pushing her 3-month-old daughter in a stroller Wednesday night.

As CBS2's Jenna DeAngelis reports, sources say Argro is the victim's ex-boyfriend and the baby's father.

Argro is charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

Johnson was walking near a playground at East 95th Street and Lexington Avenue with the 3-month-old in a stroller Wednesday night when she was killed. The baby wasn't hurt.

She allegedly texted family saying she was going to meet Argro to talk.

At a vigil Thursday night, her mother shared her daughter was a victim of domestic violence.

"I need you to know that the city right now and the state failed my daughter," she said.

According to police, officers responded to a call in January where Johnson alleged being pushed by her child's father while she was pregnant, saying she didn't want the father in the baby's life. Authorities say records do not indicate an order of protection was filed.

It's not clear why he allegedly shot her. He was picked up by police in Brooklyn, where he lives, on Friday. Sources tell us he has an attorney.
