Authorities: Recluse Found Dead In Rockland County Home Was Worth $3 Million

RAMAPO, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Authorities say a man found dead outside his home in Rockland County was a recluse who had $3 million in the bank.

Ramapo police identified the man George Konnight, 79, on Tuesday night.

Konnight had lived alone since his sister's recent death, police said.

According to the Journal News, Konnight had $3 million from the sale last fall of about 31 acres of his family's property in northern Ramapo.

His skeletal remains were found on Friday in the woods on his property.

Ramapo police Detective Lt. Mark Emma says he lived a very simple ``hermit-like'' life in a house without indoor plumbing or heat.

The Rockland County Medical Examiner's office will determine the cause of death. Police believe he died of a medical condition.
