Authorities: Hypodermic Needles Found Near Dead Woman At Newport Centre Mall

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) -- Authorities say a woman found dead inside a bathroom at a northern New Jersey mall this week apparently died of a drug overdose.

Jersey City police tell The Jersey Journal that the woman, who had no identification on her, was found around 6 p.m. Monday in a department store at the Newport Centre mall. She was discovered by a security guard who was making a final sweep of the mall before it closed.

Authorities say a small black bag with exposed hypodermic needles was found on the floor near the woman. She was pronounced dead at the scene, and it's not yet known how long her body may have been in the bathroom before she was found.
