As Case Count Rises, Gov. Cuomo Urges New Yorkers To Get Measles Vaccination

NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- Governor Andrew Cuomo has urged all New Yorkers to get a measles vaccination.

An outbreak of the highly contagious disease has continued to spread across the country.

There have been 129 cases in 13 states, according to the Centers For Disease Control.

New York has seen its highest number of cases in nearly 20 years with 29.

Assistant Surgeon General, Dr. Anne Snuchat, called the disease 'highly contagious'.

"Thirty-four of the 129 cases reported so far in the U.S. were importations involving both U.S. residents that travelled abroad and foreign visitors who came here," she explained.
