AP: Hillary Clinton To Launch 2016 Campaign Within 2 Weeks, Focusing On Small Events To Start

WASHINGTON (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Hillary Rodham Clinton is expected to launch her campaign for president sometime in the next two weeks and will initially focus on intimate events, rather than soaring speeches to big rallies. That's according to two people close to the Clinton organization. They say her team is looking to put her in direct contact with voters in states with early primaries and caucuses.

The goal is to make the campaign more about voters and less about Clinton herself. While it appears unlikely that Clinton will face a tough primary challenger, she is aiming to show voters that she still plans to earn their support.

The strategy is also aimed at playing to what Clinton allies see as her strengths. Friends and advisers have long said she is more at ease in small group settings and one-on-one conversations.

The people close to the Clinton camp spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss plans on the record before they are announced.

Clinton is also reportedly planning to set up her campaign headquarters in Brooklyn.
