Animal Care & Control of NYC Hosts Second Pit Bowl

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Animal Care & Control of New York City is hosting its second Pit Bowl party and fundraiser to debunk myths about pit bull type dogs and encourage adopting their adoption from the city shelters.

"It's important because they don't get a fair shake," AC&C Executive Director Risa Weinstock told 1010 WINS. "There's a reputation that's a negative one which is really misinformed."

"Just like people, they have different personalities and just like any animal, you have the find the right one for your lifestyle," she added.

Teams of bowlers will compete at Lucky Strike Lanes on West 42nd street in Manhattan on February 10 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. with "cheerleading" tickets still available for purchase.

There will be raffle prizes, pool tables, ping-pong and, just in time for Valentine's Day, a pittie "kissing booth" manned by some four-legged pit bull ambassadors who are up for adoption from AC&C shelters.
