Amazon Looking To Buy YES Network For Yankees Games

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A headquarters in Queens isn't the only New York property Amazon may be interested in.

The company is reportedly among several bidders for the YES Network, which broadcasts New York Yankees games.

It's one of 22 regional sports networks Amazon is attempting to purchase.

The networks were owned by 20th Century Fox, but when Disney bought the entertainment company this year, the Justice Department said Disney would have to sell the properties.

The news came in the wake of a report that said the Yankees are in the process of buying back the Yes Network from Fox. The Major League Baseball team has lined up financing from several investors, Bloomberg reported.

The Yankees sold the network to Fox in 2014, but retained a 20 percent stake.
