All-Day Rain Brings Flooding, Road Closures In Some Areas

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Rain drenched the Tri-State Area throughout the day Wednesday, causing flooding in some areas.

The southbound Bronx River Parkway was closed between the Westchester County Center and Chatterton Avenue due to flooding in White Plains at the height of the evening rush.

Flooding was also seen in Paterson, New Jersey.

CHECK: Forecast

Flood watches were in effect for several counties in central New Jersey, but a flood warning was in place until 9:30 p.m. Wednesday for a section of southeast Hunterdon County due to the rain as well as snow melt.

The rain was light across the area, but was widespread, CBS2's Lonnie Quinn reported. Late Wednesday, the rain was concentrated in southern New Jersey and on Long Island.

The rain was pushing away from the area Wednesday evening, and fog was also clearing after zero visibility was seen earlier in the day in inland New Jersey.

The high for Thursday was expected to top out at 53 degrees.
