Alfredo Aceves Suspended 50 Games For Testing Positive For Drug Of Abuse

According to multiple reports, pitcher Alfredo Aceves has been suspended 50 games for testing positive for a drug of abuse.
It was his second such positive test.

The 31-year-old right-hander signed a minor-league deal with the Yankees in late March and was called up to the big club on May 3. He appeared in 10 games for New York before being designated for assignment a month later.
The reliever is currently in Triple-A with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. The suspension is effective immediately.

Major leaguers are only tested for performance-enhancing drugs, but minor-league testing is different. Drugs of abuse are characterized as recreational drugs, such as marijuana, cocaine and heroin.
The veteran, who previously pitched for the Yankees from 2008-2010, had a 6.52 ERA in 19 1/3 innings this season.
