Akayed Ullah Gets Life In Prison For 2017 Attempted Suicide Bombing At Times Square Subway Station

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The man convicted of an attempted suicide bombing at a Times Square subway station was sentenced to life in prison Thursday.

In December 2017, Akayed Ullah partially detonated a poorly constructed pipe bomb in the underground passageway that connects the Times Square station to the Port Authority Bus Terminal.

Five people suffered minor injuries.

Before being sentenced, Ullah apologized, saying he does not support harming innocent people.
