Airport Workers Rally For Higher Wages At LaGuardia Airport
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Airport workers in the Tri-State Area rallied Monday, calling for higher wages.
Hundreds of workers and union supporters marched and rallied outside LaGuardia Airport.
They said they chose Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day for their protest because of what they called "gross injustices and inequality."
They want pay to increase to $15 per hour and union rights.
"Every single worker is entitled to a living wage; to justice," an organizer said.
Several protesters were taken into custody at the rally. A total of 24 were issued summonses, according to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
Rallies were also held at other cities, including Boston, Philadelphia, and Chicago.
