Accident Shuts Down Eastbound Lanes Of Manhattan Bridge

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Brooklyn-bound side of the Manhattan Bridge was closed Friday evening, after a taxi and a box truck smashed into each other on the upper level.

The accident involving a yellow taxi and a truck happened around 8:30 p.m. on the eastbound upper-level lanes of the bridge, officials told CBS 2.

The cab driver was pinned by the truck, and was taken to Brooklyn Hospital Center in serious condition, officials said.

Following the accident, hour, all eastbound lanes were closed and traffic on the bridge was at a standstill.
