Water Main Break Halts A, C Train Service In Upper Manhattan

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A water main break in Washington Heights shut down A and C Train service Thursday night.

The corner of 163rd Street and Amsterdam Avenue looked more like a river Thursday night. The break spilled several gallons of water into the streets.

Due to the main break, A and C trains were halted in both directions between 145th and 175th streets as of 10 p.m., according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

The Office of Emergency Management said A Train service was also shut down the rest of the way north to the 207th Street terminal in Inwood for a time.
