9/11 Memorial Museum Seeks Survivor, Witness Accounts
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- People who lived nearby or worked in the towers, first responders and those who helped in the aftermath of the Sept. 11 terror attacks are being encouraged to share their stories with the 9/11 Museum.
As WCBS 880's Marla Diamond reported, the museum, which opens May 21, aims to tell the story of that tragic day, not just with artifacts but in the words of those who lived it, said 9/11 Memorial President Joe Daniels.
"We very much encourage any survivor or witness to participate," Daniels said.
The registry can be accessed on the museum's website 911memorial.org.
Daniels said the project offers "an opportunity for folks who were survivors or who witnessed the attacks to provide their stories."
The stories will be displayed on touch screens inside the museum's Foundation Hall.
"So we expect thousands and thousands, and over time tens of thousands of stories to be on these registries. And it's going to be an important part of preserving the history," Daniels said.
