8 Morris Intermediate School Students Suspected Of Drinking Alcohol, Taken To Hospital

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Emergency services were called to an intermediate school on Staten Island after education officials said a bottle of liquid several students reportedly drank from smelled of alcohol.

Department of Education spokeswoman Marge Feinberg told 1010 WINS eight 7th-grade girls at Morris Intermediate School drank an unknown liquid from a water bottle and an Arizona bottle.

The water bottle had an odor of alcohol, according to Feinberg.

The school contacted the girls' parents and called 911.

A guidance counselor and teacher escorted the girls to the ambulance, where their parents met them, Feinberg said. One parent refused transportation to the hospital.

They were taken transported to Richmond University Medical Center for observation.

Feinberg said the school is investigating and disciplinary action is pending.
