8 Injured In Early Morning Hamilton Heights Fire

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Eight people suffered minor injuries after an early morning fire in Upper Manhattan.

The fire broke out around 3:15 a.m. Friday at a building on West 144th Street in Hamilton Heights.

It was brought under control about an hour later. Fire officials said the blaze was confined to an apartment on the fourth floor.

Five civilians and three firefighters were sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
