75-Year-Old Pedestrian Struck, Killed In Brooklyn Car Crash

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A 75-year-old man crossing a Brooklyn street was struck and killed after a two-car crash Thursday, police said.

Xiaoci Hu was struck just before 7 a.m. crossing Seventh Avenue near 56th Street in the Sunset Park neighborhood.

Investigators believe a Toyota Camry traveling with the green light slowed down to let Hu cross the street. They say a 1995 red Jeep Cherokee driving behind the Camry slammed into the back of it, causing the Camry to hit Hu.

Emergency workers took Hu to Lutheran Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Both drivers remained at the scene, and the investigation is ongoing, authorities said.
