7/4 CBS2 Afternoon Weather Headlines

By Mark McIntyre, CBS2 Meteorologist/Weather Producer

Happy Independence Day! Today's forecast is a mixed bag of sorts...we will have clouds dominating the skies today along with periods of light rain and highs in the low 70s...is there any good news? Well, yes actually...we won't have an all-day washout. Also, we could get some late-day breaks of sun. Even more importantly, fireworks & festivities this evening are lookin' pretty good considering the less than ideal start.

Tomorrow will be a much more splendid day...sunshine with a few clouds, low humidity, and much warmer temps. We're expecting a high of 85 in NYC. Overall it's gonna be much better looking compared to today...and even nicer than yesterday! It will be a perfect chance to get out to the beach or maybe for a drive up in the mountains.

Monday will start off the new week with mostly sunny skies and temps again in the mid 80s. Thunderstorms return to the forecast Tuesday, and that starts off a few days of unsettled weather.

Make the best of today, and Happy 4th of July!
