6/21 CBS2 Sunday Evening Weather

By Mark McIntyre,

CBS2 Meteorologist/Weather Producer

What an interesting day of weather we've had - from a stormy start in the early morning to steamy summer sunshine this afternoon, it was an appropriate official start to summer! Expect partly cloudy skies tonight with mild & muggy conditions...temps drop into the mid 60s to low 70s around the area, with a low of 72 in NYC.

Tomorrow will kick off the first full day of summer, and boy oh boy, it sure will feel like it! Expect plentiful sunshine through the day with high temps easily reaching the low and mid 80s. In the built-up urban areas close to town we'll be into the upper 80s...expect a max temp of 88 in NYC tomorrow. Folks on the immediate south-facing shores of LI will be in the low/mid 70s.

Tuesday will be a bit warmer...and I expect NYC to hit 90 for the first time this year. The problem will be higher humidity values with more moisture in the atmosphere. This will make it feel more like 95-100 in some spots, so please make sure you wear comfortable, light-colored clothing and drink plenty of water. There will be a cold front approaching the region Tuesday afternoon so some thunderstorms are in the forecast. The silver lining here is that the storms will knock down the temps and humidity, making for a cooler & much more comfy Wednesday afternoon.
