6/19 CBS2 Friday Afternoon Weather Headlines

By Mark McIntyre, CBS2 Meteorologist/Weather Producer

Happy Friday, folks! If you have plans to enjoy the afternoon outside, we do have some good news. Despite a murky morning we'll have sunshine returning and temps warming into the middle 80s. It will also be a bit humid, so definitely feeling like summer. There is a slight chance for a few isolated showers, but nothing that would warrant canceling any plans. Picnics, pools, and BBQs should be good - just be ready to step inside for a few minutes!

Tomorrow will feature a return of clouds and cooler temps. Expect partly sunny skies through much of the day with temps only topping off at 76 in NYC, and cooler along the coasts with winds coming off the water. There is a chance for a few afternoon showers/storms, but again, these will be hit 'n' miss.

Saturday night/Sunday morning is of greater concern with the remnants of "Bill" moving over the area. While it won't have tropical winds, it will be packing plenty of tropical moisture. Torrential thunderstorms are possible in the early morning hours of Father's Day, and flooding of streets/poor drainage areas is a good bet. The good news is that the afternoon should dry out enough so that Father's Day celebrations can get underway.

Have a great Friday!
