5/23 CBS2 Saturday Afternoon Weather Headlines

By Matt DeLucia, CBS2 Meteorologist/Weather Producer

Good Afternoon!

Memorial Day weekend has arrived and of course with it, the unofficial start of summer! A cold front passed through yesterday evening, and we'll be slightly below normal temp wise today... going for a high of 69 in the city, low to mid 60s at the beaches. Despite this, skies will be bright with plenty of sunshine this afternoon.

It won't get quite as cold tonight, with lows in the 40s and 50s under mostly clear skies. Tomorrow is looking good as well, and we bump up the temps about 10 degrees. Highs will top out near 80! Both days looking great if you're headed out to the Jones Beach Air Show.

Memorial Day is looking decent, and we've been trending drier over the past couple of days. We'll keep a shower or thunderstorm chance in the picture, but that would be north and west of the city. NYC looks like some clouds to start, with more sun later in the afternoon. Highs once again around the 80 mark.

Heat returns for next week, along with that humidity. Check back in soon for the latest!
