4/18 CBS2 Saturday Afternoon Weather Headlines

By Matt DeLucia, CBS2 Meteorologist/Weather Producer

Good Afternoon!

What a beautiful day we have out there! In fact, this will be the warmest day of the year so far! We'll climb into the mid to upper 70s this afternoon, with a high of 76 in the city. I would not be surprised to see the 80 mark in some locations to the south. Despite the good feel, winds will be picking up this evening, with gusts up to 30 mph at times. With the combined warm temps, low humidity, and gusty winds, a Red Flag Warning has been issued for the enhanced risk of fires, effective until 8 PM this evening.

If you're headed out to the Mets' game, it'll be warm! Temps around 73 for the start. Mostly clear skies overnight, with lows around 50 for NYC metro. It'll stay breezy, especially before midnight.

Tomorrow is still looking good, but temps are more seasonable. A high of 62 for the city, as high pressure moves offshore and winds come in over the colder ocean water. Clouds increase Sunday evening ahead of our next round of rain.

Monday is looking very damp, with a widespread soaking rain. Right now, it looks like both AM and PM commutes will be wet, with a general 1-2" of rain across the region. Definitely need the umbrella!

Check back in later for more on this beautiful weekend and Monday's rain!
