3rd Teen Victim In Newark Christmas Night Shooting Dies

NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Authorities say the third teenager who was shot on Christmas night in Newark has died.

Chief assistant Essex County prosecutor Thomas Fennelly told The Star-Ledger of Newark 14-year-old Abdul Frazier died early Friday after three weeks in a hospital.

Kasson Morman, 15, and Zainee Hailey, 13, were shot to death in front of a home on Schley Street in Newark's South Ward. Frazier was also hit and critically wounded.

Hailey was taking out the trash and Frazier was sitting on the porch with Morman when shots the rang out. Police would not say if any of the teenagers were the intended target.

A 15-year-old is charged in the shootings. His name has not been released because of his age.

The shooting brought Newark's murder total to 100 for the year for the first time since 2006.
