Motorists Dodge Growing Hole In The Pavement On Third Ave.

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Motorists have concerns about a hole on Third Avenue that's easy to miss.

Somebody first spotted the pockmark in the pavement about three days ago, near 32nd Street.

A peak inside shows a brick that looks intact, but the hole seems to be growing fast.

CBS2's Jessica Layton went out to investigate and found a number of drivers who went to park on top of the hole.

"Wow, that's dangerous. They gotta fix that definitely," one driver said.

"It's like 32 inches, but it's on top of garbage," another added.

On Friday, the city said the cause appears to be defective Con Edison infrastructure. The area has been blocked off.
