35th Annual 'Mermaid Parade' Marches Through Coney Island

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Saturday's rain did not dampen the enthusiasm at the 35th annual Mermaid Parade in Coney Island.

More than 3,000 participants took part in this year's nautical-themed march along Surf Avenue.

Organizers say it's the largest art parade in America.

Legendary New York rockers Debbie Harry and Chris Stein of Blondie were honored as this year's Mermaid Queen and King Neptune.
