3/2 CBS2 Monday Evening Weather Headlines

By Giorgio Panetta
CBS2 Chief Meteorologist/Weather Producer

Today was a nice departure from the snowy finish we had to our weekend. Up to 7 inches fell on the east end of Long Island and portions of Connecticut. The city came in with 4.8 inches -- pretty good for the park.

This puts us over 33 inches for the season, but nowhere near our 57.1 inches last season.

Cold air filters in again tonight, setting the stage for some black ice returning tomorrow morning. Any ponding from today will re-freeze overnight and stay frozen.

Some single digits will return for places well north and west.

Snow returns tomorrow afternoon -- Not a whole lot (less than 4 inches for almost all), but during the evening commute. Temps will rise after 11 p.m. and we will switch over to mixing and sleet.

We then transition again over to rain as temps climb higher.
