3-Year-Old Boy Found Wandering Alone On Brooklyn Street

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Good Samaritans found a barefoot 3-year-old boy wandering alone in Brooklyn early Friday morning.

The boy was found sitting on the curb of Evergreen Avenue and Himrod Street just before 5:30 a.m. with no shoes on.

Sources said the father woke up around 7 a.m. and noticed a chair near the front door and the door unlocked, CBS2's Erin Logan reported.

It appears the child woke up earlier, climbed a chair, unlocked the door and let himself out of the home.

The boy wandered a few blocks before being found.

The child was taken to Woodhull Hospital for evaluation, though he did not appear to be hurt.

A clerk at the corner convenience store said police asked him for help in tracking down the boy's father.

"I told him I don't know the father," clerk Jose Rodriguez said. "I feel bad, little boy 4 o'clock in the morning, that's bad."

The boy has since been reunited with his father.

No criminality is suspected.
