Taking a look at who's hot and who's not on the local sports landscape:
THREE UP:
1. Knicks' Unsung Heroes
How about the performances by Langston Galloway and Alexey Shved against San Antonio? The Knickerbockers showed signs of life and pulled off a shocking upset.
2. Cam Talbot
He's been superb in Henrik Lundqvist's absence, though he did give up a goal in a loss to Chicago on Wednesday night. That's a lot for him.
3. NYCFC
The new kids on the block got off to a great start at home, with a 2-0 victory over the New England Revolution. There were 43,507 on hand at Yankee Stadium to watch the first-ever home match in franchise history.
THREE DOWN:
1. Islanders
Their losing streak has now hit four, which is the worst stretch for them all season. Some much-needed rest is on the way, as are the reinforcements. Nick Leddy is skating with the team again, which is a good sign.
2. Mets' Pitching Staff
Another year, another major injury for a Mets pitcher. This time, the victim was Zack Wheeler, who will miss the entire season with a torn UCL. He'll need Tommy John surgery.
3. Nets' Playoff Chances
Time is running out for the Nets to get back in the hunt, and Wednesday night's loss to Cleveland didn't help.
