Police: 3 Dead After Crash On Taconic Parkway In Yorktown

YORKTOWN, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) — Police say three people have died after a crash on the Taconic State Parkway in Westchester County.

New York State Police say it happened shortly after 3 p.m. Saturday in Yorktown.

Officials tells 1010 WINS that three people have died, one person is critical, five people are stable and two were treated and released.

The crash involved four cars and was on the south side of the parkway, north of Baldwin Road.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a BMW sport utility vehicle was traveling northbound when it exited the roadway into the center median, struck an earth embankment, and became airborne into the southbound lanes.

The BMW struck two southbound vehicles and a third southbound vehicle was also involved in the collision.

The names of the victims will be released pending notification of next of kin.

Investigators from the state police reconstruction unit are at the scene. Police say they are still investigating.

The State Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact SP Hawthorne Bureau of Criminal Investigation by calling (914) 742-6400.
