2/15 CBS2 Sunday Morning Weather Headlines

By Mark D. McIntyre Jr.

Good morning all!

While it wasn't the most amazing snowstorm ever, the brutal cold air and hefty winds will be the even bigger story... expect gusts up to 60 mph across the East End of Long Island, up to 50-55 for NYC and the Jersey Shore.... That will make the snow that did fall whip around, creating very poor visibility!

Take it slow, or even better yet, stay off the road if ya can! It will also be coupled with extremely cold air - only hitting a high of 17 in NYC - making it feel way colder.

The real cold arrives tonight and hits early tomorrow morning. Single digits in NYC - going with 3 degrees Monday morning - and subzero north and west! Even worse, the winds will still be quite strong (gusts up to 40 mph) overnight...and folks north/west of the City will wake up to chills of -20 and -30! Yes, that's 20-30 degrees below zero! The daytime high on Monday is only expected to reach 18 (single digits to near 0 north/west).... Good thing is many folks have off - so stay in and keep warm!

Warmer air arrives Tuesday - and by that I mean temps in the upper 20s...but another snow chance develops Tuesday night into Wednesday with temps still below freezing.
