2 Women Shot In Ridgewood, Queens; Police Say Suspect Committed Suicide

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Two women were shot and wounded Tuesday evening in Ridgewood, Queens, police said.

The suspect was found dead of what was believed to be a suicide afterward, according to police.

Police were called around 8:15 p.m. to 60-59 Gates Ave. in Queens for a report of a person shot, the NYPD told CBS2.

Police confirmed two women were shot – one, age 54, in the arm; the other, age 31, in the back. Both were taken to Elmhurst Hospital Center, and were expected to survive.

The suspect barricaded himself inside the apartment building after the shooting, and was found dead of an apparent suicide when police entered, the NYPD said at the scene.

It appeared the incident started as a domestic dispute, police said.
