Long Island Couple Dead After Being Pulled From Water In Far Rockaway

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Two people from Long Island have died after being pulled from the water off the beach in Far Rockaway.

It happened around 10:30 p.m. at 9th Street and Seagirt Avenue.

The victims have been identified as 25-year-old Umarie Chamble and 28-year-old Keylon Ramsay. The Inwood couple was pulled to shore by first responders who then tried to save them through CPR. The two were rushed to St. John's Hospital in Queens where they pronounced dead.

Sources tell CBS2 the couple may have gone out for a late night swimming lesson but something went wrong and they were not able to make it back to shore.
