4 Arrested In Separate Police Pursuits; 2 Officers Injured

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The NYPD arrested four people after separate police pursuits Thursday in Manhattan, and they all came to an end in Hell's Kitchen.

In one incident, two NYPD officers were injured when a driver being ticketed took off, hitting the officers.

The officers were writing a ticket for a car that was double parked on 55th Street near Eighth Avenue when the female driver suddenly sped away, police told CBS2.

As the car fled, the driver hit one officer's leg and knocked the other officer down, 1010 WINS' Al Jones reported. Both officers suffered minor injuries, Jones reported.

Other officers nearby saw the car take off and gave chase, WCBS 880's Alex Silverman reported. Patrol cars poured in from all over the area, finally pulling the car over at 50th Street and 10th Avenue.

"There was no sense in her running," said Brunilda Reyes. "Why not just pay the ticket? Now she is going to pay a bigger price by hitting the officer for that ticket she was getting."

One officer was taken to the NewYork Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center and is in stable condition. The woman was taken into custody, CBS2's Magdalena Doris reports.

The other incident involved a car full of three people speeding down West Side Highway after being pulled over at 125th Street and Broadway.

"I was startled saying 'wow' something must really be going on and then the next thing you know there were all the policemen and counter-terrorism cars," said witness Georgia Hummel.

A male passenger jumped out of the car and ran to the parking lot of the Skyline Hotel at 49th Street and Tenth Avenue. The NYPD finally stopped the car at 34th street and West Side Highway. Two women were arrested there and then brought to the Skyline Hotel to identify the man who ran off.

All three people in that incident were also arrested.

Police say that all charges are pending against the four people arrested.
