Woman's Death Ruled Homicide 23 Years After Bronx Shooting

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A 65-year-old woman died 23 years after she was shot in the Bronx, and authorities have now ruled her death a homicide.

Charlene Thomas was shot inside 20 Richman Plaza on July 22, 1992, police said. She died on Wednesday, Nov. 11 of this year, police said.

The New York City Medical Examiner's office has ruled that Thomas' death was the result of the shooting and has deemed her death a homicide.

Shortly after the 1992, Erik Shaw, then 23, was charged with attempted murder, a criminal sex act, criminal use of a firearm, assault, and unlawful imprisonment. Shaw's name did not appear in current New York State Department of Corrections inmate records.
