1/6 CBS2 Tuesday Evening Weather Headlines

By Giorgio Panetta, CBS2 Chief Meteorologist/Weather Producer

Hello everyone! Staying warm I hope?

It's a brutally cold afternoon out there. If you need to be outdoors please bundle up. Frostbite can ensue in as little as 15 minutes.

The snow event is playing out as forecast. The totals from the New Jersey shore communities have not yet arrived, so I expect their totals to be the highest.

Generally, an inch or less has fallen. I believe Central Park has around 1/2 an inch of the white stuff as of 4 p.m.

Going into the week, brutally cold air is the headline. The coldest air since last winter's arctic blast will be settling over the area.

Lows in the northern suburbs could get as low as -1, with feel-like temps as low as -25. That is dangerous.

Closer to the city its not going to be AS bad, but we'll drop into the single digits with feels like temps below zero.

Friday brings about another risk for some AM snow. No accumulation expected.

Check back in soon for an update!
