13 Kittens Abandoned On Staten Island Roadside Available For Adoption

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) - Thirteen kittens abandoned inside a cardboard box on a Staten Island roadside are doing fine and looking to find homes.

The tiny felines were rescued on Saturday by Tracy Parisi, a volunteer for the Staten Island Council for Animal Welfare.

Parisi said she didn't expect the overwhelming response from people wanting to adopt the kittens.

"I received over 70 emails which just recently crashed my server," Parisi told 1010 WINS. "We definitely have enough homes to choose from."

Two kittens already have found homes.

Parisi said the kittens are friendly and range in age from 7 weeks old to 10-12 weeks old and are possibly from three litters. All the kittens are being examined by a veterinarian.

"They were all extremely clean and very friendly, which means that they were definitely born in a house," Parisi said.

Parisi told the Staten Island Advance that she rescued the animals after a friend walking his dog near Glen Street and South Avenue came upon the box.

Anyone interested in adopting the kittens can contact Parisi at tpsiny@yahoo.com.
